Henri & Gilles Buisson Saint-Romain Blanc Sous la Velle

  • White
  • Chardonnay

Perhaps the most iconic white wine of the domaine, this comes from a 60-year-old planting of Chardonnay in the Sous la Velle vineyard, which, as per its name, sits just below the village itself at 370 meters of altitude in the heart of the valley. Compared to the “Perrière” above, “Sous la Velle” offers a minerality no less intense but heftier and more saline, buoyed by a sense of iodine and a broth-like savory note. Deeper and riper fruits contribute to an impression of measured lusciousness here, but the whole package is just as kinetic in its own way as its more linear cellar-mate.
