The Buisson family has been present in the village of Saint Romain in the Cote d’Or since the twelfth century.
The Buisson brothers produce miniscule quantities of a majestic Corton-Charlemagne from a 75-year-old parcel of Chardonnay planted at the very top of the hill facing due west. While they cannot claim ownership of this incredible parcel, they were directly approached by the owner after the previous lease expired, as the owner knew and loved their white wines and felt confident the brothers would do these organically farmed old vines in the Le Charlemagne lieu-dit full justice. Indeed, this wine possesses a combination of imposing concentration, lifted elegance, and sheer drama that only the greatest of grand cru Burgundies can achieve, offering a slowly unfurling palate of kaleidoscopic complexity that takes full command of the taster’s attention.
