Nicolas Gaudry Pouilly-Fume Les Vignes de Berge

  • White
  • Sauvignon Blanc

The “Vignes de Berge” is a 3.5 hectare parcel on kimmeridgian marne soils with a high proportion of stones known in the appellation as “terres blanches”. The vines here are in excess of 45 years of age. This wine is the most generous and earthy of the Fumés produced at the estate. Gaudry takes a no-nonsense approach to vinification and aging, seeking to spotlight the chiseled mineral character of Sauvignon Blanc grown in these soils. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel without designer yeasts; malolactic fermentation does not occur, thereby allowing the wines to retain their linearity and cut; aging takes place on the fine lees; and the wines are gently bottled the summer following harvest.
