About Cave des Amandiers
It only took a few pours for us to realize that we had stepped into something really thrilling, and after we had finished our extensive tasting and cellar visit, we knew we had obtained not only a new grower, but a newfound understanding of the heights Swiss wine can achieve.
Produced in miniscule quantities (one single 400-liter barrel per vintage) from a parcel planted in the sandy granite soils of Fully, Alexandre’s Cornalin is a near-dead-ringer for great old-school Cornas; black olive tapenade, savory spices, and a blitzkrieg of black pepper confront the taster with eager ferocity, and the palate follows through with a sizzling combination of vibrant black fruits and lively but balanced tannins. Alexandre’s inclusion of 70% whole clusters reinforces the wine’s Cornas-like profile.
