Ferrando’s Canavese Nebbiolo comes from the same vineyard area in Borgomasino as their duo of Erbaluce di Caluso. Named “Praj” (“clearing” in Piedmontese dialect), it comprises a single hectare of guyot-planted vines on a 20% gradient, planted in 2017. Aged one year in 500-liter French oak casks (20% new), it offers a combination of linearity and sappiness that reminds one of the iconic Carema. Jammy strawberries and gently mentholated licorice dominate on the vibrant but richly fruited palate, and a sense of clean, persistent minerality carries the finish.
