About Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur
A committed classicist, Vincent Bitouzet has provided us with over thirty-years worth of structured, demanding, age-worthy, satisfying wines, both red and white, from the heart of the Cote de Beaune.
The domaine possesses two parcels of Pinot Noir in the Clos des Chenes, one of the renowned 1er Cru sites in Volnay. One is mid-slope with browner soil, and one high-slope with whiter soil, planted between 1976 and 1986, totaling just over a half-hectare. This cuvée is one of dynamism, balance, and drive, a touch fruitier and more subtle than the Taillepieds with slightly less stout tannins. Although there is marked tension between its vigorous acidity, soaring aromatics, and thickly rendered fruit, its dominant sensibility is one of regal poise. It is the most linear, kinetic wine in the Bitouzet cellar, always reflecting exceptional balance and stunning in every vintage, particularly with cellar age.
