About Chateau du Petit Thouars
Built in the early 1500’s for a wealthy family from the town of Thouars, the Château du Petit Thouars is a 150-ha estate run today by Sébastien du Petit Thouars, the twelfth generation to dwell here since his ancestor George purchased the property in 1636.
A newer cuvée than the historic “Le Clos,” “Les Plantes” comes from younger vines of Chenin Blanc planted outside the confines of the walls surrounding the chateau itself. A small-production wine of just 4,000 bottles per year, it spends six months aging in stainless steel on the fine lees after a spontaneous fermentation in steel, and it offers a profile less oily and dense than that of Le Clos, with fruits more citrus-leaning and a breezy yet bright texture.
