Chateau Auney l'Hermitage Graves Rouge

  • Red
  • Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Cabernet Franc (5%), Malbec (5%)

From a four-hectare parcel of gravel, clay and sand, 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. Élevage runs 15 months in a mix of new and old “pieces”, and this is the most important wine of the estate at an average production of 18,000 bottles. As Jon Bonne writes, this is a " full-fleshed, silken, quiet take on this esteemed appellation ... full of violets and blueberry and sandalwood, it's softened by merlot but never lacks the bark-like herbal side of cabernet. This is the sort of Bordeaux that some age will make even better."
