Bodega Hermanos Mesa Los Brezos Tenerife Valle de Guimar

  • Red

The sole red wine from Hermanos Mesa, “Los Brezos” comprises 85% Listán Negro and 15% Listán Blanco from 25- to 30-year-old vines planted at 500 meters of altitude in the municipality of Candelaria, in an area called La Hoya de la Viña. The soils of the Los Brezos vineyard consist of marine sand and volcanic ash, which impart to the wine a fine yet assertive minerality and a bracing freshness—characteristics enhanced by the gentle foot-treading process employed for crushing, which keeps seeds intact and avoids extracting harsh tannins. Aged one year in well used French barrels, the wine offers exuberant red fruits given lift through a subtle sense of cool greenness more leafy in nature than herbal.
