Bastide du Claux Poudriere Luberon Rose

  • Rose
  • Grenache (40%), Cinsault (30%) , Syrah (20%), Carignan (10%)

From Sylvain Morey, scion of our Chassagne producer, Jean-Marc, comes this rose from his domaine in Luberon. 40% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 20% Syrah and 10% Carignan. This is a real standout, offering the ethereal pale salmon color and bright salty snap we've come to love about Provencal rose, but without the confected, "commercial," overly aromatically exuberant character that sometimes mars those wines. The Syrah and three-quarters of the Grenache is direct-press, with the remainder macerated on skins for several hours. Fermented then left on lees in concrete tanks for 6 months before bottling. This is a non-flashy rose of great mineral character, showing its soil influence clearly. A wine of surprising structure and length with an elegant balance of red fruit and subtle spice.
